Have you ever had one of those “Gee, I coulda had a V-8” the lightbulb coming on moments? When it comes to National Peach Melba Day and January, it was an epiphany moment.Continue reading “A Kiss of Summer to Chase Away the Winter Blues”
Today is National Apple Cider Day. My first instinct was to give you a recipe for Hot Apple Cider and call it a day. But that would be far too easy, don’t you think?Continue reading “A Surprise for Apple Cider Day”
Have you seen this dessert? While I do own two fondue pots (one electric, the other Sterno), I love the idea of forgoing the pot. Fondues aren’t made for big entertainments but rather for a small group of maybe four people. It really depends upon the table.
Do you ever look at pictures of food and figure out a new recipe just from the picture? I wanted something different – something light. That’s when I saw a picture of what appeared to be berries and cake on a bamboo skewer. How utterly simple!
Did you know that the first Tuesday in May is Teacher Appreciation Day? I have two sisters that are teachers. One is now retired, the other still teaching her heart out. I’m proud of both of them. When Kiddo was in grade school, we “appreciated” his teachers by taking them out to a nice dinner with their families. After all, it’s not just the teachers that are making a difference. Their families are equally important. Just think of all the nights and weekends those families sacrifice so that your child has a teacher dedicated to developing their minds.
Confession time – this recipe comes straight from William Sonoma. I have not tried it yet. I’m sharing it now because today is April 1st – APRIL FOOL’S DAY and a dessert called Berry Fool just seemed so appropriate, don’t you think? We are going to make this very soon. Some of our neighboring smaller, family run strawberry farms are beginning to sell baskets of little berries. Hubby and I are already making plans for a drive in the country (which means about a 10 minute drive from our home!) to get some fresh picked berries in the very near future. We just need to get our butts in gear for some of those early morning dew-kissed berries. Yum!
Okay – confession time. I really don’t have much in the way of a recipe. I mean, how much of a recipe do you need? Store bought Angle Food Cake, store-bought glaze. Whipped cream – okay maybe a recipe for whipped cream would be a good idea. Strawberries? Fresh is best.Continue reading “Angle Food Cake with Luscious Glazed Berries”
