June 6, 1944, better known as D-Day is often thought to be the turning point in a war that had gripped the entire world. Some 156,000 Allied soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy that first day. Some by sea, others from the air. All of France in 1944 was occupied by the armies of Nazi Germany.

A Pub Style Saint Patrick’s Celebration

It’s Saint Patrick’s Feast Day – that time of the year when the world is suddenly Irish. At least that’s what we see here in America. There are parades and even the Chicago River is dyed green to celebrate the Emerald Isle.
