Spicy Firecracker Jalapeno Burgers to Light Up Your Taste Buds

These burgers are big – packed with flavor and VERY messy!  You might want to consider handing out bibs when serving – I kid you not. I’ve actually thought about investing in those disposable lobster bibs that they hand out in restaurants. The chunky salsa gives the burgers a nice kick. And that “surprise” in the center – oh my! The guacamole lends a creamy finish, while the nacho cheese sauce just oozes out everywhere.

Imagine my surprise when even my “no cheese” burger Husband said sure, he’d give this a try. He reasoned that he liked Nachos – so what the heck? He was looking for something different from the run of the mill burger. Let me tell you, these burgers are anything but ordinary.

While we cooked them up as regular sized burgers; I realized that they would also make great sliders. With that whole “firecracker” element, bite size burgers would be an awesome addition to any 4th of July gathering.

Like any self-respecting burger, these firecrackers are great with fries; and equally delicious alongside potato salad.

Spicy Firecracker Jalapeno Burgers
1 pound Ground Beef
1/4 cup chunky Salsa
4 frozen breaded Jalapeno-Cheddar Cheese Poppers, thawed
4 Hamburger Buns, split and toasted
1/4 cup Guacamole
4 Green Lettuce Leaves
1/4 Cup Salsa Con Queso Dip (Nacho Cheese Dip)
1 Roma Tomato, sliced
2 tablespoons sliced ripe Olives (optional)
4 thin slices Sweet Onion

In a large bowl, combine the beef and salsa. Shape into four patties. Place a jalapeno in the center of each; wrap beef around jalapeno, forming a ball. Reshape into patties, about 3-1/2 to 4 in. in diameter and 1 in. thick.

Grill, covered, over medium-hot heat for 7-8 minutes on each side or until meat is no longer pink .

Spread bun tops with guacamole. On each bun bottom, layer lettuce, a burger, salsa con queso dip, tomatoes, olives (optional) and onion; replace tops.
