Since 2020, we have managed to share a greasy dish on this National Greasy Food Day. The first time out of the gate, it was Chicken and Waffles. The next two years it was all about the burgers with a Bacon Cheeseburger with Fry Sauce followed by an Amazing Skillet Burger.

Who knows, we might have kept the Burger Theme going indefinitely, except last year October 25 happened to fall on a Friday. We all know a Friday means just one thing in this Catholic House – no meat in sight. That’s okay, our Chipotle Crème Tilapia knocked it out of the flavor ballpark. So here we are, yet another Greasy Food Day and no Friday holding us back.

What can I say – when I think greasy, fried foods and burgers are what spring to mind. Maybe one of these Sundays for Greasy Food Day we can think about Southern Fried Chicken. For today it’s all about the burger yet again, and the fries that go with a good burger.
One of the things Hubby and I like to keep in the freezer are those frozen burger patties you can get in the mega packs from the big box stores. Lately the cost of convenience has increased while the quality has diminished. Which got me to thinking, when ground beef goes on sale why not make our own frozen patties? This recipe does just that. Perfect for today’s greasy share, with a few patties held in the freezer for another night.
Here’s wishing you and yours a blessed and beautiful day, filled with God’s love and saving grace. Peace be with you, and may He bring peace to your soul.
Delicious Home-made Frozen Burger Patties
2 lbs Ground Beef
1/2 Yellow Onion
2 tablespoons A-1 Sauce
2 tablespoons Miracle Whip
2 tablespoons Ketchup
1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Black Pepper
3 tablespoons dried Breadcrumbs
Crumble ground beef into the bowl of a stand-up mixer. Cut onion in half from root to tip. Reserve half for another purpose. Peel and finely mince the remaining half. Add to the beef. Add A-1 Sauce, Miracle Whip, ketchup and mustard. Season with salt and pepper.

Fit mixer with paddle attachment. Mix on low for just a few minutes, then stir with a spoon to ensure that the meat at the bottom is equally seasoned. Add breadcrumbs, fold by hand into the meat mixture.
Divide meat into 8 equal portions. Form into patties slightly larger than the buns. Place patties on pieces of waxed paper, place on a cookie sheet. Freeze for 45 minutes to an hour.

Note: At this point the patties can be stacked, wrapped and saved in the freezer for another day. No need to thaw before cooking.
