Mary’s Heart Most Pure
Immediately following the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Church celebrates the Immaculate Heart of Mary. These are two vastly different celebrations. So often non-Catholics are confused by the way Catholics hold Mary in such high regard. She is not to be worships, but rather to be admired and emulated.

On the Saturday immediately following the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we celebrate yet another feast involving hearts. This is the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Hers in not to be confused with or equal to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Yesterday we celebrated the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Today is the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This feast was originally instituted by Pope Pius XII in 1944, celebrated on August 22 to coincide with the traditional octave day of the Assumption of Mary.
