Ever since we got back from our weekend excision in Santa Clara, I have been craving little bite-size desserts. Bite-size desserts are like appetizers at the end of an amazing meal or event or gathering. I love appetizers – as in a smorgasbord of little morsels that dance in your mouth. I love bite-size desserts for the same reason.

Delaware is an interesting state rich in history, yet because of its size, it is often overlooked. Stretching 96 miles long and only 39 miles wide at its widest point, Delaware has the fewest number of counties than any state with just three. And despite its relationship to Washington DC, Delaware has only three electorial votes. Small indeed.

Today is National Jell-O Day, Pecan Pie Day (Dad’s favorite) Paper Bag Day and Different Colored Eyes. Jell-O is fun if you are making Jell-O Shots. It’s also great in that Pot-Luck Classic, The Pink Stuff. Or a Watergate Salad.

Today is National Piña Colada Day. That would be great, if I liked Piña Coladas. I like rum and I like pineapple juice. It’s the Cream of Coconut that I’m not wild about. Can’t be a Colada without the coconut. So that would be a pass.

There is a great neighborhood Mexican Restaurant that we love. We could easily walk there from our house. Over the years, we have gotten to know the staff and even the owners. When people have come to visit us, that’s where we take them to dinner.

Today is National Fried Chicken Day. And so we must ask ourselves, just what is fried chicken? What a silly question! It’s chicken that’s fried, right? So this chicken counts. It’s cooked in a skillet, what more do we want?

I think we need to make some changes to Independence Day – make it a 2-day Holiday every year. You need to have the 4th off for all those daytime activities such as Parades, Community Barbecues and such. But then you need the next day off if you’ve been out late watching the Fireworks.

Poor Saint Thomas, doubting Thomas. For an Apostle, he sure seems to get the short end of the stick. Saint Thomas is believed to have died on December 21, which by all accounts should be his feast day. After all, it is the day he was called home to Heaven.

Would you believe that there is a movement in this country called the Family Sunday Supper Movement? When I was a girl, the very idea of a movement to reclaim Sunday Supper would have seemed crazy – as in what are you talking about? Every Sunday is spent with family.

Every now and then, Hubby will stand in front of the refrigerator and “read” the bulletins. On the fridge I’ve posted two notices. The first is a menu plan for the week, the second are events scheduled in our area for the month.
