If not for Sunday, today would not be a Holy Day of Obligation, yet is a very special day within the Church calendar. It was on this day in 335 AD that the Church of the Holy Sepulcher within the Christian Quarters of Jerusalem was dedicated.

A Special Sunday in September
We can thank President Jimmy Carter and Marian McQuade for National Grandparents Day. While it can be argued that this “made up” holiday is really the brainchild of the Greeting Card Industry, the value of grandparents should never be overlooked.

May has Mother’s Day. June gives us Father’s Day. In July we celebrate Parents Day. And the Sunday after Labor Day is Grandparents Day. Celebrated in the United States since 1978, the US Senate and then President Jimmy Carter nationally recognize Marian McQuade of Oak Hill, West Virginia as the founder of National Grandparents Day.
