Yeah – it’s National Gummy Worm Day! Last year, we made our own Gummy Worms (what a mess!). But then last year life was canceled, so what else did we have to do?
This year we are out and about and life is returning. So let’s make our Dirty Dirt Cups quick, easy and oh so fun. Gosh, I miss having children in my life. Dirt Cups were such a part of party entertaining. Now even my sister’s children are “double digits” – so grown.
When Kiddo was a kid, I volunteered at the school every day. I love children. They are amazing. If I had it my way, we’d be surrounded by children all the time. Nothing melts your heart like a child’s smile. And these creepy crawler dirt cups are sure to earn a smile or two.
Dirty Dirt Cups with Gummy Worms
1 (15 oz) package Chocolate Sandwich Cookies (Oreos)
1 (5 oz) Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix
3 cups cold Milk
1 (8 oz) tub Frozen Whipped Topping, thawed
24 Gummy Worms
Place cookies in a food processor, crush to the consistency of dirt. Set aside.
In a bowl, stir pudding with cold milk until soft-set, about 5 minutes. Cover and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Remove pudding from the refrigerator, stir in half of the crushed cookies and all of the whipped topping. Stir until completely blended.
Divide pudding among 8 clear plastic cups, filling each cup three-quarters of the way up. Drape and arrange 3 worms in each cup, pressing down slightly to imbed part of the worms into the muddy dirt.. Carefully fill cups the remained of the way with crushed cookies without completely burring the worms. Spread out evenly for a smooth top layer.
Cups are ready to serve – enjoy!
I bet children love these
