Our time in Tennessee went by too quickly. And yet it was time well spent. We got to sample a hot sweltering summer in the south – and survived. We met the most amazingly friendly people. We felt as though we were leaving home behind.
There was a bit of sadness as we watched the country miles click by. Our last taste of Tennessee was via the back roads to Alabama, avoiding the morning rush hour of Chattanooga entirely. Besides, there is so much rustic charm out the window as we meandered further south.

Our first stop in Alabama was the Cathedral Cavern in Woodville Alabama. We hadn’t made reservations, hoping that if we arrived when the park first opened, we might be able to book a tour. Unfortunately, the first tour available for those who needed assistance walking the 1-mile loop (and that would be me), wasn’t until 4:00 pm. With 500 miles of traveling ahead of us, a tour was out of the realm of possibilities.
We did get to peak at the entrance, and pose for pictures on a giant chair (don’t ask).

Had we been able to tour the cavern; this is what we would have seen. Oh well, in the words of a famous Southern Belle “There’s always tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day.”

Since our next stop in Alabama will be a post all its own, let me leave you with the views outside my window.

Have a blessed and beautiful day filled with the peace of the Lord.
