Our last night away from home was spent in Bullhead City, Arizona. The Colorado River is the natural border between Arizona and the casinos on the Nevada side. It’s hot in this part of the country. Insanely hot. As you can see, by 7 pm it’s beginning to cool down.

Not wanting to cross the Mojave Desert in the heat of the morning, we got an early start, leaving Bullhead City before sunrise. This was a wonderful decision. The sunrise along the Joshua Highway in Nevada was spectacular.

With nearly 6,500 miles behind us, I feel blessed in that there were no serious accidents on the road. The only accidents we saw were in the span of twenty-four hours during that last leg. The first was in Arizona just outside Bullhead City and the second in Bakersfield, just 200 miles from home.

Home at last. As expected, the lawn had suffered during our absence. Not expected was that the AC had given out at some point. (When away, we set the thermostat for 89 degrees). It was over 100 degrees in the house that first night. Hot enough to melt candles.

While not the homecoming we had wanted, praise the Lord things are finally as they should be. The AC is doing its job, and with some TLC the grass is beginning to green up again.

May all your journeys through life bring you joyful memories. The destinations are only as special as the people we share them with.
