My true love gave to me three French Hens. On the First Day, we are given the birth of Jesus Christ, on the second the Word Of God, the Holy Bible. On this, the Third Day of Christmas, the Holy Spirit comes to us bearing gifts from above.

My true love gave to me Two Turtle Doves. Bound within the Holy Bible are two turtle doves, two conversations from God – the Old Testament and the New. The first conversation tells us what God expects from us, the other is a promise of all He shall deliver in exchange.

My true love gave to me a Partridge in a Pear Tree. The symbolism here is not lost. The partridge is singular – as there is only one Lord and Savior, there is only one partridge in the pear tree.
