Today we have two National Days to celebrate. The first is New Hampshire Day. New Hampshire was the 9th state to join the Union yet the first to establish an independent government. For over 100 years, the first votes cast in a presidential election are cast here.

It’s New Hampshire Day

One thing I really like about honoring different states throughout the year is that I get to learn something new. Each state has its own treasures, bits of history and interesting perspectives. Oh I suppose we could wallow in mud and negative aspect of any place and its inherently evil people. But why?

Welcome to the Granite State

New Hampshire, the Granite State, may have been the 7th state to join the newly formed Union, but it is first in so many things throughout its history. The first to grow potatoes, the first to establish an independent government and create its own constitution.
