Today is National Pick a Strawberry Day. I gave the idea of picking strawberries a great deal of thought. After all, we are growing strawberries in the garden this year. Picking our own strawberries is a subject for another day.
Years ago, Kiddo and I went to a strawberry farm in southern California that was one of the largest Pick-Your-Own Berry farms I’ve ever seen. Just walking the property could take you an entire afternoon. Oh but what a wonderful afternoon!
My thoughts drifted to day-dreams of chocolate covered strawberries, mile-high strawberry glazed pies and pretty pink strawberry cakes with billowing clouds of fluffy frosting. So many delicious, wonderful, perfect things to make with your fresh picked strawberries. And then I remembered a recipe for an awesome summer berry salad from my friends at Branch and Vine. This is one special summer salad. Hope you enjoy!
Blackberry Balsamic Summer Berry Salad
1 cup Blueberries
1 cup Blackberries
1 cup Strawberry (cut in halves or quarters)
Branch and Vine Blackberry Balsamic as needed
Wash all berries well. Let them dry in a colander or gently spin-dry in a salad spinner.
Hull and slice the strawberries in half or quarters, depending upon the size of the berry.
Place all berries in a large bowl. Drizzle Blackberry Balsamic on the berries until coated. Toss and serve.
