Do you ever look at pictures of food and figure out a new recipe just from the picture? I wanted something different – something light. That’s when I saw a picture of what appeared to be berries and cake on a bamboo skewer. How utterly simple!
Now I couldn’t simply stop at the Red, White and Blue skewers. No way. The moment I saw the picture, I knew it would be a perfect way to utilize a little treasure I came across not long ago at an antique street fair – an Avocado Green Electric Fondue Pot.

Yeah, I’m adding this fun little summertime treat to my pot luck backyard party collection. What a hoot!
Summertime Skewered Dessert Fondue
Angel Food Cake Berry Skewers
2 pints Strawberries
1 pint Blackberries
1 Angle Food Cake
20 Bamboo Skewers
Hull strawberries and cut in half. Set aside.
Rinse blackberries. Pat dry with paper towel and set aside.
Cut cake into bite-size pieces
Alternating, thread cake and berries onto skewers. Place about 4 or 5 pieces per skewer. Leave plenty of room at the top to hold the skewers when dipping into melted chocolate.
Chocolate Fondue
12 oz good quality Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
1/4 cup Heavy Cream
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Melt chocolate chips in a heavy-bottom sauce pan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
Add cream and vanilla. Stir until smooth and well blended.
Pour chocolate into a warm fondue pot over a source of low heat.
Dip skewers in chocolate and enjoy!
What a delightful idea! Love this one! So original! 💕😊
