Re-Thinking the Holidays

Not including the tree with its ornaments, wreaths, table settings and other little things sprinkled about, I have amassed 342 Christmas Decorations. When I’ve looked back over the last few years, it’s really way too much.

Decorating for the holidays has become one of those can’t see the forest for the trees situations. It takes over a week of unpacking and another week of packing just to deal with all we have. Between the Santa Collection and the Nutcrackers alone, there are 230 pieces to display. While people walk into our home and say “Oh wow!” I feel overwhelmed by it all.

Beginning this year, we’ll simplify the decorating, picking a theme for each year and going from there. Of course the Advent Wreaths and Nativities will be a part of His Christ-Mas Season every year. The rest will become streamlined revolving decorations depending upon the theme. Simple is so much better.

Merry Christmas!
