Welcome to November 5, the first Saturday in November. On the National Celebration Stage, the first Saturday of every month is National Play Outside Day. I’m not sure what that says about growing up these days that we need to set aside one day each month to play outside. When I was a girl, every day was Play Outside Day.

Today is Chinese Take Out Day. Yep, it’s that day again when we talk about how we don’t do Chinese Take Out and why. You all know my stand – it’s not that I object to Chinese Talk Out, we just don’t do much in the way of take out period. The only exception, for the most part, is take and bake pizzas.

Here we are, poised on the eve of National Chinese Take Out Day. Yep, tomorrow is Chinese Take Out Day. Last year, I shared a recipe for Crab Rangoon with a Dipping Sauce and explained why we don’t do Chinese Take Out. It’s not that we have anything against Chinese Take Out per say, but generally speaking, we aren’t a Take Out kind of family.

Today is National Chinese Take Out Day. Personally, I’d rather have Chinese food in a Chinese Restaurant, preferably one in China Town in San Francisco, than from those cardboard take out containers. Or make it myself. That’s not to say Chinese Take Out is a bad idea. It’s just that by the time you place your order and get it home, the food has lost it’s freshness. Most food is just better going straight from the kitchen to your tummy.
