Celebrate Life with Some Finger Food Classics

Welcome to the second Sunday in February. We all know what that means – it’s Super Bow Day! Okay, so we’re a little behind schedule by a week. But that’s okay because the first Sunday or second Sunday or last Sunday in February makes no different. Super Bowl is that one Sunday a year when the only thing that truly matters are the munchies.

Heads Up for Super Bowl Fun

In our house, this year’s Super Bowl is sort of up in the air. Hubby was so disappointed in the Packer loss after coming so far. He’s not even sure he wants to watch the game since the outcome holds no interest. And then there’s all the political nonsense that has somehow seeped into every aspect of life in America, including sports.

Two Sides to Every Super Bowl

Okay, confession time. When Kansas City won their division and were headed to the Super Bowl, I was really hoping that Green Bay would go all the way, too. I am a Green Bay Fan by marriage. Growing up in Northern California, I cheered for the 49ers, if I cheered at all since football is not my thing.

My Big Game Day Menu

While Hubby watched the two remaining play-off games, I began the rather difficult task of putting together this year’s actual Super Bowl Game Day menu. (Truth be told, I was hoping it would be Kansas City and New Orleans Saints in Atlanta. How easy is that? Barbecue and Cajun dishes with a southern spin! Didn’t happen, but that’s okay, too).

Super Bowl Munch Fest 2019

1998-01-04Can you believe it? Next week is Super Bowl 53! Wow, the Super Bowl is middle-aged. Another few years, and the Super Bowl can start collecting Social Security. Think about that for a moment. Let me ask you, have you ever gone to a Super Bowl game? Continue reading “Super Bowl Munch Fest 2019”

It’s Time to Spice Up Your Living-room Tail Gate Party!

This week for our tail gate party, we’ve got a couple of hot dishes; a couple of cold dishes and just to round things out a bit, some spicy brownies. Who said Football Snacks had to be beer nuts and a six-pack? A little zig, a little zag and a whole lot of fun.

Game Day Munch Fest 2

Are you ready for some football? Yeah! I’ve got some really delicious “munchies” that come together easily. There’s a little day-before pre work, and day of to finish everything. Super easy. Super delicious.

Game Day Munch Fest 1

Football-Party-Ideas-1My idea of Fantasy Football is an awesome field of yummy foods on a banquet table decked out in team colors. While throwing a living-room tail-gate party every Sunday would be a bit much, putting together a couple of game-day parties while watching non-important games is fun. Think of it as “practice time” leading up to the big event – The Super Bowl Sunday.

First and Goal – A Manly Game Day “Tea Party”

Invite a man to a tea party and watch him run to the nearest exit. I know, I’ve tried. Tea Parties are for girls. Finger sandwiches, little cakes and all that tea – really? Suggest a tea party for a football game and you will get shot down before the first slice of bread can be trimmed of its crust. Disguise a “tea party” as a sporting event with little bite size sandwiches, some brownies and cupcakes and watch the food just disappear! Stop and think about it for a minute – what is a slider but a bite-size dressed down tea sandwich? Toss out the flowers and fancy china cups. Decorate the table with team colors instead. Before they know what hit them, the men in your life are attending a tea party.

Five Game Day Snacks for your Living Room Tailgate Party

Football season is in full swing. To me, the best part about game-day are all the yummy finger foods. You know what I’m talking about – Little Burger Sliders, Chicken Wings galore, plenty of chips and dips and all the other little bite-size flavor explosions to pop into our mouths as we cheer on our favorite team. I especially love tail-gating on the sofa – all the food of a tailgate party with all the comforts of home. If I had it my way, we’d be nibbling on Portobello Mushroom Napoleon or Pork Tenderloin Crostini with a Béarnaise Sauce but that’s just me.  I’m one of those crazy people who subscribes to the notion that “casual” entertaining need not mean “casual” food.

Go Packers – It’s Bratwurst Burger Time!

1998-01-04The official Bratwurst Season is now in full swing. That means a lot of yelling and swearing at the TV. It means Hubby’s blood pressure is sure to rise – and that the veins in his forehead are popping up.

Bratwurst in Beer with Grilled Onions – It’s Kick Off Time

Football season is in full swing. From pre-season games to the Super Bowl, Hubby is one die-hard fan. He has gotten better over the years, recording a game if the schedule conflicts with family time. Because Kiddo and I love Hubby, we do our best not to let that happen. We know if roles were reversed, he’d do the same. However; our extended family hasn’t a clue who is playing when, so family gatherings and the Packers schedule sometimes clashes.
