Did You Say Today is Ordinary?

For an Ordinary Times Saturday, we sure have a lot of things going on. It’s Hubby’s National Day (sort of). Actually, it’s Two Different Colored Eyes Day. Since he has two different colored eyes, I’d say that makes today special for him.

Can You Guess What Today Is?

I love muffins in the mornings. It’s like having dessert to get you started. One of the things that I love about Mimi’s Café is the muffin that comes with every breakfast.

Where Do You Find Inspiration?

Just up the road from us, about a 15 minute drive through the countryside is the Cowboy Capital of the World, Oakdale California. Oakdale isn’t just about it’s rodeo. There are wonderful small town festivals during the holidays. And in the spring, the Saturday Farmer’s Market returns.

Will It Be Sugar or Butter?

If I had to pick between a Sugar Cookie or a Butter Cookie, Butter would win every time. Even on a Nation Day such as this. Sorry, Sugar Cookie.

Not Just Another Amazing Tuesday

It’s been a full month since our amazing Napa-Sonoma whirlwind get away. You would think some of the food craving would have worn off by now. Our first night in Napa we had dinner at an amazing Mexican restaurant; Los Agaves on the riverfront.

On the 7th of July the world celebrates Macaroni Day. Okay, maybe not the entire world or even the whole of America. Regardless, today is National Macaroni Day.

Come Float Away

Today is National Hawaii Day and the day after the 4th of July. While I know the 4th is a big holiday here in America, personally I think people should get the 5th of July off. Why? Unless the 4th falls on a Friday (like this year) or Saturday, today would be a hung-over work day.

What A Grand Day This Is

Hooray for the Red White and Blue. Now I know most of you, if you are celebrating Independence Day, you’ve got it together by now. I can’t imagine waking up on the 4th of July without a game plan. Although by the number of people I see wandering about in the grocery store with blank stares, some might have procrastinated too long.

Thomas Exists in All of Us

Doubting Thomas. Sadly, when we think of Thomas the Apostle, his questioning the resurrection without witnessing the Risen Lord first hand is what comes to mind. But is Thomas any different than the rest of us, any less a man of faith?

Now That’s a Burger!

This question goes out to those living in America – what does the 4th of July mean to you? Does it touch your soul? Do you get teary-eyed when you see fireworks and hear a patriotic song?

Spicing Up Our Tuesday

Welcome to July, where the dedication of the month is The Precious Blood of Jesus. Don’t worry, we aren’t going to get into all that just yet. But come Advent and the start of the new Church Year I’ll have plenty to say. That is if I remember . . .

And a Farewell to June

Can this be right? Has another month slipped by? Is 2025 really and truly half way behind us? That’s scary. But then again, perhaps the best is yet to come. We just need to let go, and trust in Him.

A Day to Celebrate Two Pillars of Faith

If ever there were polar opposites among Christ’s Chosen, it had to be Peter and Paul. Both men were Jews who lived in the time of Christ. Both reacted to Christ’s teachings and conversion in very different ways.

The Beautiful Heart of Mary

Today, following the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we celebrate the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. While both of these feasts involve the heart, they are not the same.
