Family Time Equals Game Night

And Game Night equals nibbles, of course. Anytime family gathers, I love to whip up all our favorites from a Spicy Cheese Dip to Mini Tostadas. This time around I even reached back into my own childhood memories. (AKA Swedish Meatballs that weren’t Swedish at all).

Wow – That’s a Mozzarella Stick!

One thing is certain, the photos hardly do these Fried Mozzarella Sticks justice. I should have photographed one in my hand. Each stick was a third of an 8-ounch block of Mozzarella Cheese.

Welcome Winter Solstice

Today is National Maine Day, French Fried Shrimp Day and Humbug Day. Today also marks the Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere. Just what does that mean?

Hors d’oeuvres for Cheese Lovers Everywhere

Today is National Cheese Lovers Day. I suppose we could have served up a creamy Mac and Cheese dish and called it a day. But why do that when we can throw a Cheese Inspired Party instead!

Exploring Maryland

At the southernmost tip of the state of Maryland on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay sits the site of St. Mary’s City. Today it is a large, state-run historic area that includes a reconstruction of the original colonial settlement, a living history area and museum complex. These comprise half of the area, the remaining half is occupied by the campus of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public honors college.

Garlic Bread Meatball Bombs

Did you enjoy yesterday’s Connecticut Connection? Great Deli Chicken Sourdough Panini, don’t you think? Me too. As it turns out, today is actually Panini Day. Guess it’s a been there, done that day. Can’t have two panini recipes back to back. Too bad Connecticut Day and Panini Day aren’t one and the same.

Cheddar Fries for Every Occasion

It was hard to pick just one National Day today. Three of the four were food related. The first was easy to skip – Lima Bean Respect Day. When I was younger, I loved Lima Beans. Today not so much. And my guys would head for the hills if I put Lima Beans on the table. Great in vegetable soup, no so much as a veggie side dish.

Singing the Praises of Chicken Wings

Today is all about the chicken wing. Well, not entirely. It’s National Lasagna Day, National Lip Stick Day and National Chicken Wing Day. I gotta tell you, the thought of eating a heavy lasagna in July just doesn’t appeal to me right at the moment. If Lasagna appeals to you, try Lasagna with Garlic Monkey Bread. It’s delicious.

Well Fancy That

Today is National Caviar Day. Unlike other food celebrations, National Caviar Day was designed with a message. The day was designed to serve as both an awareness of the food source and a celebration of the delicacy of Caviar.

Deep Fried Goat Cheese Balls

Are you a fan of Mozzarella Sticks? Silly question, right? I mean, the only people who aren’t fans are those strange people who don’t like cheese. I don’t mean lactose intolerant people – it’s not their fault. I mean those people who simply do not like cheese. My darling Hubby is one of these people. Thankfully, Kiddo is like me – a fan of just about any kind of cheese.

Cheesy Chorizo Bites

Reality check – these are suppose to be appetizers. However; with all these days running together as they are; today is Tequila Tuesday. As long as we’re having cocktails; why not finger food for supper? I’m thinking serve with Beefy Taquitos and maybe a few Bean Dip Cups.

Yea – It’s National Tater Day

Today is National Tater Day. I gotta tell you, this day could not have come soon enough. I need a break from life in oh so many ways. And what better way to take a time out than with little finger foods.

Asian Meatballs and Groundhog Day

Did you know that today is National Tater Tot Day? San Francisco usually holds a big Tater Tot Festival on February 2 to mark the day. This year, it also happens to be Groundhog Day and Super Bowl Sunday. While I don’t know for sure if the Festival is on hold, considering that the San Francisco 49ers are in the Super Bowl, I get the feeling the city has something besides Tater Tots on their minds.

What are you Serving for the Big Game?

Maybe it’s the shape of the meatballs peeking out from under the pinched Crescent dough. Maybe it’s the idea of serving meatballs as “finger food”. I can’t say for sure, but this recipe struck me as perfect Super Bowl Food.
