Keeping Thursday Casual

Casual. The whole point of today’s post was how to keep things around the dinner table casual. That is until I came across a photo taken 30 years ago today. I knew today’s post needed to go in another direction.

Remembering Summers Long Gone

This year has really been one heck of a roller coaster ride. Those who know me know I’m not a fan of roller coasters. Give me spinning tea cups any day. I don’t mind being dizzy since that’s my natural state. I do not like the ups and downs of a roller coaster life.

Tuesday and Our Lady of Carmel

Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Carmel. The Carmelites date back even before Christ, established by the Prophet Elijah. It is a part of the rich Oral Traditions of the Catholic Faith.

The Luckies Man Alive – Really?

About a month ago, while scrolling through Face Book I saw that a somewhat recognizable actor turned house flipper had wished his somewhat recognizable wife turned interior designer a Happy Birthday. How nice.

Good Morning Grand Marnier Day!

Today is National Grand Marnier Day. I was all in favor of whipping up my favorite dessert – a Grand Marnier Soufflé served with a Crème Anglaise or Vanilla Custard Sauce. Yeah, that’s my favorite. It’s not Hubby’s favorite when it comes to Soufflés. He prefers a Chocolate Soufflé with a light Dove Chocolate Sauce.

Celebrating Delaware Day

There is so much of this country I have yet to see. I truly wish I had more time to explore every back road and small town. All most of us can do is dream a little and research a lot.

Gotta Wonder Sometimes

Have you ever checked into a hotel, been shown your room and immediately wondered what were they thinking?

One of These is Not Like the Other

Welcome to another Catholic Friday. Okay, so it’s Friday for everyone on this side of the date line, not just a Friday for Catholics. Today isn’t just Friday, it’s Different Colored Eyes Day. It’s also a bunch of other things as well that we aren’t even going to talk about.

Good Morning Blueberry Muffins!

Good morning and welcome to the 11th day of July. Time is flying by so quickly. Today is the Feast Day of Saint Benedict, Abbot. Every day within the Catholic Church is a feast day. Like so many saints of old, little is knows about him beyond the establishment of the great order which bears his name.

Live and Learn

Hubby and I like to visit “Little Mexico” a few times a year, usually in the spring and early fall. The rest of the time it’s either too blistering hot or too wet to visit this huge flea market just south-west of us. We call it Little Mexico because it’s a lot like visiting Mexico.

It’s National Cow Appreciation Day

Today is the Second Tuesday in July. This day is better known as Cow Appreciation Day. Does that mean we should grill up a delicious steak? Nope.

If It’s Monday . . .

It must be a Mellow Day. Mondays at home need to be mellow for two very good reasons. First off, weekends are usually busy. There are the household chores, and the fun stuff sandwiched in-between. Monday is the first work day, so that’s always a bummer.

Faith Makes Everything New

Sometimes I’m a little slow at putting things together as they should be shared. Especially when those moments mean everything to me. June began with a great deal of emotion that I am only now ready to share.

Hello Saturday!

One of the best parts of summer, believe it or not, is that we don’t have a hundred choices of what to do or where to go on a Saturday morning. In our part of the country, spring and fall are busy. Once the heat begins festivals and street fairs come to a halt.

A Breakfast Idea That Could Not Wait!

Once upon a time when Kiddo was a kid, we had a tradition for Fat Tuesday. We made Pancakes. You know, colorful Shove Tuesday Pancakes. Gosh, it’s been a while.
