Celebrate the Second Sunday in Lent

Not that long ago, I shared with you that Hubby and I attended a Thank You Dinner put on by our Parish. It was to honor those who volunteered their time and then some to put together a month long Eucharistic Immersion Experience that actually allowed visitors to walk through the Twelve Stations of the Eucharist.

Today is National Parents’ Day, Vanilla Ice Cream Day and Gorgeous Grandma Day. We’ve talked about Parents’ Day before, and we will again, but not this time around. I know, we’ve also talked about Gorgeous Grandmas too. Since I am a “Gorgeous Grandma” five times now, with a great grandbaby, too that’s going to be my focus today.

Chicken Marsala Mema Style

Let’s start with what the heck is Mema Style?  Mema is me – it’s what my grandchildren call me.  If you hail from Texas or are a fan of “The Big Bang Theory” and its spin-off “Young Sheldon” then you know what I’m talking about. Mema is Texan for Grandma. In our house, there is a bit more to the whole Mema thing, especially since no one in my family actually hails from Texas.

Valentine’s Day: Chicken Marsala and A Dash of Romance

Valentine’s Day 2018 poses some major problems for Catholics. Not since 1945 has Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday fallen on the same day. For those of you not familiar with Catholic teachings, Ash Wednesday is the first day of the Lenten Season; a somber day of fasting and abstinence. Simply put, by today’s rules, fasting means small meals and abstinence means “no meat”.  Somber Days are not days for celebration, indulgence and chocolates. A real killer to all the romance of a fancy dinner, champagne and caviar, wouldn’t you say?
