Today is National Chicken Noodle Soup Day and National Good Samaritan Day. In the three years we’ve been acknowledging these two National Days, only once have we served up Chicken Noodle Soup. Guess this year we’re skipping the soup yet again.

The Simplicity of Ember Days
Today marks the first of three days once known as The Ember Days of Lent. While Ember Days with fasting traditions are no longer required and rarely observed, the meaning behind Ember Days still rings true.

Welcome to Eat Your Noodles Day. In the past, we’ve shared Asian and Filipino recipes that made noodles the star. Most recently it was all about a noodle side dish. This time around I thought something from Hubby’s heritage might be nice.

Don’t you just love it when little videos pop up on your social feed? It doesn’t take long before the marketing department knows just how to press your buttons. I generally get three types of reels – food related, baby related or animals just being too darn cute.

Today is National Oregon Day. There is so much more to Oregon than its rugged coast, whale watching adventures or life in Portland. Eastern Oregon is all about cattle and cowboys. My kind of people.

Many, many moons ago Hubby and I hung out with a couple who were much younger than us, but that didn’t seem to matter. Most of our friends back then (and now) are much younger than us. The wife was from Oklahoma, the husband a wild bush pilot from upstate New York.
