Rand Creek, Neighbors and Camp Fires

Welcome to the 16th day of May. Mid May. A day filled with possibilities. On the National front, there are nine different celebrations to choose from. It would be impossible to bring all these celebrations together for one massive party. I mean, how can you celebrate National Barbecue Day, Piercing Day and Sea Monkey Day with a single event?

Good Morning National Buttermilk Biscuit Day!

Today is National Buttermilk Biscuit Day. Aren’t we lucky that today also happens to be a Saturday. All the more reason to savor the morning, unhurried. Pour that extra cup of coffee and wake your family to the smells of biscuits baking.

Celebrating Our Lady of Fatima

Today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima. It marks the first of six monthly appearances of our Blessed Mother to three young children in Portugal. She came to the world during a time of war and upheaval. She promised peace while predicting future wars far worse than the Great War.

Welcome to Tuscan Thursday

On the National Front, today is Nutty Fudge Day. Who doesn’t love fudge? It’s been a part of my Christmas celebration for as long as I can remember. Dad made upwards of 5 pounds or more every holiday.

Ode to a Daydream Fantasy

Today is National Eat What You Want Day. In the past we’ve talked about eating what you want without guilt or counting calories – a freebie junk food day. While that’s all well and good, it got me to thinking . . .

Welcome to the State of Washington

First of all I want to apologize to the state of Washington. I’m not sure how or why I’ve overlooked you year after year when celebrating each great state on their National State Day. All I know is that I did. It’s high time I embrace Washington and pay tribute to the 42nd State to join the Union. So here goes . . .

Mellow Monday Chicken Pot Pie

Did you know that today is National Lost Sock Memorial Day? Yep, just as the name suggests, we are encouraged to hold a memorial for all those lost socks, then do something constructive with their mates such as make sock puppets.

Celebrating an Elegant Mother’s Day

Today is Mother’s Day. Today’s share is my 7th Mother’s Day share. Looking back, in 2019 I was a wee bit obsessed with creating the perfect Mother’s Day celebration. That year I managed to write not one, not two but three different posts to honor the day.

National Days and Omelette Time

Today is the 6th day of May. It is also the Friday before Mother’s Day. May 6th is National Beverage Day, Crepe Suzette Day and Nurses Day. The Friday before Mother’s Day brings even more to the National Calendar. We have Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Provider Appreciation Day, National Space Day and School Lunch Hero Day. So what does that all mean? Good question.

Cinco de Mayo and More

We all know what day it is – the 5th of May. Just as everyone suddenly becomes Irish on March 17th, American embrace all things Mexican on May 5th. After all, it’s Cindo de Mayo.

Open-Face Scrambled Egg Sandwich

On the National Front, today is all about the orange. It’s National Candied Orange Peel Day and National Orange Juice Day. Now maybe it’s just me, but I would have tied Orange Juice Day to Florida Day.

Thank You Montana!

Montana, the 41st state to enter the union, is rich in history. It is the site of the Little Big Horn and Custer’s last stand. It was the first state to elect a woman to congress. And it was explored by Lewis and Clark.

Cheater’s Chicken Biscuit Pot Pie

Hands down, Hubby would rather have simple home cooked meals than Fancy-pants Five-Star Gourmet Suppers. Give him a Minnesota Hot Dish or a Great American Pot Pie any day and he’s happy.
