South Dakota Day and More

Where to begin for today’s delicious share? I guess we should acknowledge National Days first. Today is South Dakota Day. South Dakota, politically speaking, is near and dear to my heart. I nominate their governor, Kristi Noem, to be the first female President of the United States.

Feast of Saint Mark, Evangelist

Typically on this date we talk about an event in history, East Meets West. However; since we’ve been there and done that a number of times, I thought sharring a bit more Catholic Faith would be nice. Don’t want the faith? That’s okay, just scrole down to the recipe. I promise, it was taste just as good.

Care to Guess What Day This Is?

Today is National Pigs in a Blanket. So naturally I’m making Hot Dogs wrapped in crescent rolls for dinner tonight. Not much of a recipe to share there.

What a Day for a Picnic

Today is National Picnic Day. I don’t know about you, but I simply adore the whole concept of a picnic. Especially one with my Hubby, the love of my life. Unfortunately, he’s really not able to sneak off on a Tuesday. And what fun is there in a picnic spent at his desk?

A Cheater’s Awesome Cake

Of all the bad habits picked up on vacation, having dessert every day has to be the worst. It sets you up for cravings that aren’t usually there. Like something sweet to conclude every meal.

Italian Inspired Sunday Supper

Each Sunday has a theme throughout the year. It’s message is contained in the readings selected, and the Homily. On this, the 4th Sunday of Easter we are called to worship. If that’s not reason enough to declare Sundays as a Day of the Lord’s making, I don’t know what is.

Tea Time with My Love

When you take a 16-day cruise that includes 10 full days at sea, it’s important that the ship offers a variety of activities to keep the passengers occupied. There were trivia games, and live entertainment pool side. There were lectures and crafting classes. And of course there was no shortage of delightful things to eat.

Now That’s Funny!

People are so funny. As we counted down to our “Sail Away” day, Hubby and I kicked things into high gear. Watched what we ate, excersized more and went clothes shopping. A Cruise Vacation meant putting our best foot forward for a bunch of strangers we’d never see again.

North to Dakota Once Again

Today is North Dakota Day. What can I say about North Dakota except the winters are cold!

A Different Kind of Burger

Many, many moons ago, you could find Johnsonville Bratwurst Burgers in the frozen food case of the grocery store. I don’t know if they don’t make them anymore or if the stores around here don’t bother to carry them. Regardless, I sure can’t find them. And that simply will not do.

Ellis Island And Coal Miner’s Spaghetti

It wasn’t that long ago that we talked about Pasta Carbonara. It goes by many names, and one of those happens to be Coal Miner’s Spaghetti. That got me to thinking, today is National Elise Island Family History Day. Many of the Coal Miners of America were immigrants or decedents of immigrants. There is no denying America is a country built on the backs of Immigrants.

Voici la fête de Sainte Bernadette

Unlike last year, when the Feast Day of Saint Bernadette was overshadowed by Divine Mercy Sunday, this year Bernadette has her feast day all to herself. Not that it took away from last year’s honoring of this simple woman. You see, Bernadette has not one but two feast days.

Remembering the Titanic with Grace

Have you heard? There’s a man in Australia with money to burn that says he’s going to launch the Titanic II. It’s not the first time he’s made that claim. Maybe he’ll succeed this time around, but even if launched, it won’t be the same. She sailed into the sunset of different time.

A Scrambled Good Morning

My favorite meal has to be breakfast. I don’t know why that is, but I love breakfast. The best part about going on vacation is that we get to eat breakfast together every day!

Have a Wild and Spicy Saturday!

Although the calendar might not officially agree, Spring has finally arrived in our neck of the woods. The first sign of Spring is how beautiful a drive in the country can be. You know spring has arrived when the fields are green, the poppies are in bloom and mamma cows with their precious calves can be spotted grazing everywhere.
