I know, enough with the chicken wings already! This is my last wing recipe (for this week) – I promise. I’ve been reading some of my older easy recipe cookbooks and I keep finding delicious recipes I had forgotten about. Besides, you can never have too many chicken wing recipes or too many choices for finger foods, right? These spicy-sweet wings are just a little different but oh so tasty.

Louisiana Hot Chicken Wings
The Big Game is coming, the Big Game is coming! Sorry about my crazy enthusiasm, but as I’m writing this piece, I’m watching one of my favorite comedies from 1966, The Russians Are Coming, the Russians are Coming!
My Big Game Day Menu
While Hubby watched the two remaining play-off games, I began the rather difficult task of putting together this year’s actual Super Bowl Game Day menu. (Truth be told, I was hoping it would be Kansas City and New Orleans Saints in Atlanta. How easy is that? Barbecue and Cajun dishes with a southern spin! Didn’t happen, but that’s okay, too).

This yummy, sticky finger-food is a delicious adaptation of my Japanese Glazed Drumsticks. It makes for a wonderful appetizer or a welcome addition to any game day munchies. It’s been a big hit with my guys. I even served these wings for my Dad’s appetizer inspired birthday party. While there is a little work involved; these are so delicious it’s well worth the effort. Just be sure to include some wet-wipes as the chicken is sticky-good.
Christmas Appetizers – And the Winners Are . . .
It seems whenever I am planning a party, or attending a pot luck, I always run into the same problem – what do I make? It’s not a question of what so much as in a lack of ideas or inspiration. It’s more a struggle of narrowing things down to a reasonable amount of foods. There are times when I throw sensibility right out the window, and make everything. There are times when my guys rein me in with a firm “are you out of your mind?”

Bacon-Onion Barbecue Meatballs
“We are having a pot luck”. We’ve all heard them – those dreaded words from a co-worker. It means coming up with something that can be made in advance – or at the very least started in advance, that can be easily transported and that will satisfy a crowd.
Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus in Crisp Phylo with a Hollandaise Dipping Sauce
I love asparagus. I love asparagus steamed, grilled, pan-fried and just about any way in between including asparagus soup. While asparagus is generally an early spring crop, in most well-stocked markets, it can be had throughout the year. The younger, narrow asparagus render the best, most delicate flavor. The older, thicker stalks tend to be more woody, tough and somewhat bitter.

Sunny Pie in all Its Rustic Beauty
A few years back, Sunny Spinach Pie was all the rage – recipes for it kept popping up. I loved the look, the idea of twisting off little flower petals of warm stuffed dough to pop in your mouth. Sunny Spinach Pie was very popular on everything from cooking blogs to Facebook pages. Then, poof, it was gone.
The Importance of Sunny Pepperoni Pie
Not that long ago, Hubby asked if I were in the mood for pizza. He knows I’m not a huge pizza fan. For him to ask meant he was the one craving a slice. Naturally, I said yes. Hubby came home with the most incredible take out pizza pie I’ve ever seen. It was one of those take and bake jobs from Papa Murphy’s – their Five-Meat Stuffed Pizza. Have you seen that monster of a pizza? It’s two meaty pizzas stacked one on top of the other with a braided edge holding the two together. I swear, it weights a ton. As I said, I’m not a huge fan of pizza, but this pizza was awesome. It reminded me of another “pizza pie” – one of my own creations. While the two pies look nothing alike, the concept is the same.
Teriyaki Cocktail Smokies – What a Nice Surprise!
Last summer, my middle sister and her husband came for a visit. This is always cause to celebrate since they live in Eastern Central Oregon and we don’t see enough of them. The visit was a quick one – just a few days of visiting, playing games, swimming and most of all great family time.

Teriyaki Meatballs – Crock Pot Style
One day a coworker came to me on a Tuesday and said “Rosie, we’re having a potluck on Thursday. Bring whatever you like.” Total panic. OMG – one day to plan a dish, one day to make the dish – what to do? What to bring?
